Summer travels - Florida, Part 1

My "little sister" Linda's green thumb is evident in the lush plants she nurtures just outside her door.

Following our lovely week in Emerald Isle, we drove to St. Petersburg. We have relatives that we see way too little in the St. Petersburg area. My younger sister Linda, her daughter Rose, and Rose's sweet and very active toddler Lauren -- she of the red hair and bright blue eyes below, whom we met for the first time -- live in Gulfport right next to St. Pete. It was so good to have at least a brief visit after not having been together in several years.

We all shared a meal in a wonderful, small seafood cafe. Sharing the table with loved ones ... this is the way to bond, isn't it? Our waitperson took a picture of us. It's a bit fuzzy, but it captures the warmth of the occasion.

Family is so important, and it was so good to reconnect.
