Summer travels - Emerald Isle

This has been a busy summer! A week or so following my foray to Topsail with Christy, Mike and I took two weeks of vacation, the first of which we spent at Emerald Isle, where the ocean may change from jade and turquoise to gray to cerulean, all in one lovely, timeless day.

Leila, Shiloh, Jagger and Savannah joined us overnight early in our visit. We had a belated birthday dinner for Leila at a nice restaurant in Beaufort.

What a beautiful family, the Mathers-Barfields!

The restaurant had a lovely stained-glass window.

Our duplex had a wonderful outdoor shower. It even had a mirror -- doesn't Mike look cute?

Reading at the beach, a favorite pasttime ... especially if well-protected from the sun while ocean breezes blow.

A rainbow marked our last evening at Emerald Isle, our symbol for a week of beauty, peace, walks, swims and rest.
